Our Plan
Our project was initiated in response to a proactive outreach from the Bellura community. They expressed a strong desire for a new and improved community center, prompting our collaboration with CASA. Among the 2,725 residents in the village, upwards of 350 are children eager to learn and play. While the village has two schools, they remain closed outside of regular school hours. As a result, there is no dedicated common space for the children to study, do their homework, or simply enjoy some playtime. This semester, our primary focus revolves around the development of a comprehensive community engagement plan and the execution of a remote site assessment. These critical activities will equip us with the essential technical data required for our subsequent design and planning phases. By placing a strong emphasis on community engagement at this stage, we aim to derive valuable insights that will shape our design criteria and ensure our project effectively addresses the identified needs of the Bellura village. As we look ahead to the next semester, our concentration will shift towards the design phase and the formulation of an implementation schedule. In May, our program will conclude with a 3 week implementation trip to the village to help bring the project to life. During the implementation phase, not only will we help construct the project, we’ll also be able to connect with the community in person. After we leave the country, we’ll remain in contact with the contractors, the community, and CASA to monitor the rest of the implementation. All donations will go to project costs including the cost of obtaining and transporting materials, the cost of our contractor’s labor, and the cost of our traveling technical advisor.
